A designated ‘Family Collection’ of properties is a new addition for 2009 for specialist travel company Sardinian Places.
By its very nature Sardinia is a low-stress family destination. Approximately just a two-hour flight from the UK, this Mediterranean island offers a comfortable climate and wealth of unspoilt and gently shelving beaches.
Family-friendly properties with that little bit extra have resulted in the tour operator compiling its own ‘Family Collection’, which is certain to please parents and children alike.
Well-appointed with a minimum of a swimming pool, television with DVD player and a microwave, the selected properties are also equipped with buckets and spades, beach umbrella and a cool box for picnics on the beach.
There are nine ‘Family Collection’ properties within the Sardinian Places’ portfolio.
These include the two-bedroom villa, Casa Querce in Pula, in the south of the island.
Casa Querce delights with the sheer size of its immaculately kept lawns and gardens, which include a private swimming pool, pond, rock pool and olive trees. Exuding space and all on one level, the ochre coloured house includes a well-equipped and sizeable kitchen, which opens out onto a large terrace area – perfect for soaking up the sun and for extended meal times.
The general atmosphere of Casa Querce is overwhelmingly rural, despite the lively town of Pula being only a couple of kilometres away. Less discovered than the North, this region’s real lures are its pristine and uncrowded beaches that punctuate most of the southern coastline.
Amandine Blanchard, Sardinian Places product manager comments:
“Time spent with the family has always been an integral part of Italian life and wherever you go in Sardinia, people will be more than happy to see you with children. There is also a wide range of activities on the island to keep children occupied when the family want a change of scene from the glorious beaches.”
A week at Casa Querce starts from £1,143. This price is for the property for the week and includes a welcome hamper. Sardinian Places predominantly operates bookings on an ‘accommodation-only’ basis because of the number of low-cost airlines offering a flight service to the island.
However, charter and scheduled flights, as well as car hire - which is strongly advised - can be quoted by the tour operator.
Foldable highchairs and travel cots (excluding cot linen) are provided free of charge in Sardinian Places self-catering properties. Baby and child car or booster seats (minimum age 6 months) can also be fitted into the hire cars (cost of £40 for clients of Sardinian Places).
