Specialist tour operator Corsican Places highlights its tailor-made touring holidays as the best way to see the many different aspects of Corsica this spring. The roads are much quieter before the peak summer holiday season and the mountain scenery is awash with colourful spring flowers and blossoming maquis.
The company has a number of suggested itineraries in its brochure and online although the experienced reservations team is happy to put together a tailor-made tour to suit exactly what a holidaymaker is looking for. The most popular tour is Haute Corse taking in the best of the north of the island including Calvi, the mountainous interior and the stunning west coast.
An example Haute Corse tour: on arrival at Calvi Airport collect a hire car for the short drive to the 2* Hotel Cyrnéa, located on the outskirts of Calvi. Spend three nights in Calvi exploring the historic citadel, the glamorous marina and relaxing on the six kilometres of sandy beach. There is also time to spend a day driving to the nearby mountain villages of the Balagne to experience traditional Corsican culture and take in the captivating panoramic views. On the fourth day drive through the mountainous interior of Corsica to the spiritual capital of the island, Corté and spend a night at the 3* Hotel Arena, a family-run hotel perfectly situated next to the Restonica river. Whilst in Corté take advantage of the area’s fantastic opportunities for outdoor pursuits or explore the picturesque town with its narrow cobbled streets and university buildings.
The following day drive through the mountains to Piana on the west coast and spend a night at the 4* Hotel Capo Rosso with excellent views of this dramatic stretch of coastline. On the final day return to Calvi for one last night. This seven-night tour costs £795 per person departing on 7th June and includes return flights from Gatwick to Calvi, car hire and 7 nights twin accommodation with six nights on bed and breakfast basis and one night on half board.
Corsican Places has been welcoming holidaymakers to the beautiful Mediterranean island of Corsica for 22 years and the company’s staff has first hand knowledge of the destination to advise clients on the best places to stay and suggestions for tours for those looking to explore this unique destination.
