There will be a wider choice of holidays to Cape Verde next winter when Thomson’s monopoly on direct flights comes to an end. The Cape Verde Experience will operate its own flights from Stansted and Bristol between December 2010 and March 2011. A Hamburg International Airbus A319 with 150 seats will operate the service to Boa Vista in Cape Verde, and also to Banjul in The Gambia, making twin-centre holidays with The Gambia or Senegal an attractive option.
Friday flights from Bristol will operate to Boa Vista via Banjul on the outbound leg, and on the return will be direct from Boa Vista to Bristol. Tuesday flights from Stansted will be direct to Boa Vista on the outbound leg, on the return the flight will operate via Banjul. The flight from Boa Vista to Banjul takes only one hour.
Paul Kenny, commercial manager of The Cape Verde Experience, says: “This will bring great benefit to many UK visitors, providing more choice and the convenience of regional flying. It also makes possible multi-centre holidays, combining Cape Verde with Gambia and neighbouring Senegal. The additional flights will mean better choice for holidaymakers and should also benefit hoteliers in Cape
Verde.”
