Festival of the Wind

Yesterday saw the start of the interesting and unique Le Festival du Vent (Festival of the Wind) which is held in Calvi each year and celebrates everything to do with wind but also looks at environmental issues and preserving cultures. As well as bringing together scientists and engineers interested in technology, the event attracts a wide range of artists and promises to offer something for all ages. Expect information on environmental issues plus music concerts, street theatre performances, art displays, bungee jumping, hot air ballooning and kite flying. There will also be a performance by the French Foreign Legion which is based in the citadel of Calvi. The Festival of the Wind is an annual event, which is now in its 18th year and is expected to attract around 50,000 visitors. This year it is held in Calvi between 27th and 31st October 2010.
